BELLEVILLE, NJ - The Rotary Club of Nutley announced a $500 donation to Nutley Little Theatre in honor of president Janis Wolf. The announcement was made during the June 17 installment dinner for President Zachary Sebek.
Rotary International is a service organization dedicated to building community across town, across the nation, and across borders. Locally, the Rotary Club of Nutley supports local causes, awards scholarships, and brings the community together with annual events like the car show each September.
A fun part of each Rotary meeting is called “happy dollars.” Members go around the room, announcing something that made them happy, and put a dollar in the pot. The happy things could be anything from a new baby, gratitude for well-wishes during a personal challenge, or even just being able to share time with fellow Rotarians.
Each new president of Rotary selects an organization that will receive the happy dollars at the end of their term. The late Janis Wolf, who passed away partway through her term as president, selected Nutley Little Theatre as the beneficiary of her term.
The announcement of this year's Happy Dollar awardee was made by Barbara Hirsh.
